Heather’s resolutions

I don’t do resolutions as a general rule. It just seems so contrived- “It’s January 1st! What’s wrong with your life???” I prefer a slightly more optimistic approach to self-improvement. Also a more moderated approach. If there’s something I need to work on I don’t like to set January 1st as THE starting point of

2013: Reinvigorated and Resolving

Published on January 8, 2013, by in Home, Life.

In the days before New Years Eve I was so disenchanted with the whole resolution thing. I think I feel the way many people do- each year I resolve to do something, most of the time it is to get in shape or eat healthier, and every year I forget what a resolution is around February.

Unrealistic House Expectations

Published on December 6, 2012, by in Home.

Hi Gen*HER! It’s been ages, did anyone miss me? I apologize for being gone so long – I’ve been swamped with projects and travel and … because apparently things happen in threes around here … along with Jessie and Heather, I TOO bought a house! LOL. I decided to look at all the meticulous planning the

Christmas Crafts: Pinecone Garland

Published on November 25, 2012, by in DIY, Home.

I saw a pinecone garland on a magazine cover somewhere and I can’t even remember where. The point is, when I saw it I knew it was what I needed for my new fireplace mantle.  After pricing them and realizing they are literally just pine cones attached to a string I decided that my husband

Heather’s Great House Hunt Fail

Published on October 11, 2012, by in Home, Life.

So…umm… remember when I did a blog about buying a house and then another blog about picking out paint colors for said house? Yeah…well, I found out the hard way that there is one final, trump-all-other-rules rule. It’s not your house until the closing is complete! And of course I know this, you know this,

You don’t have to be Bob Vila…

Published on September 10, 2012, by in DIY, Home.

Hey folks, over at Gen*HER we figured out early on that we definitely wanted to bring in some guest bloggers to talk about the things that generally don’t come up on the radar of our little group. So without further ado, I’m happy to introduce our first guest blogger, my wonderful husband Branson, who is

Flower Rearranging

As I mentioned before, my Pop Pop passed away a few weeks ago. This Saturday was his memorial service and my family was really touched by the amount of flowers that were sent to the funeral home. From the service, the flowers made their way back to my Granny’s house where they sat during the reception

On Target: Orla Kiely

Published on August 20, 2012, by in Home.

I popped into Target for laundry detergent and some other toiletries (as I type this I realize I completely forget the laundry detergent) and found that Target had collaborated with Orla Kiely again. So cute! I love Method products and Orla Kiely, what a great pairing!

When in doubt, spray paint it!

Published on August 9, 2012, by in DIY, Home.

In attempt give my new home some curb appeal this weekend, my superhero husband started attacking a little mess of a garden in our front yard.   Much to our delight, he uncovered this guy!   If I’ve learned anything from the decorating, design, and DIY blogs I read it is that if you have something
